2015 Multicultural Music Workshop
In July 2015, students and educators from the United States, Poland, and Israel came to Krakow, Poland for a week to sing, dance, discuss, and perfom together as part of the Peace in Motion Multicultural Music Workshop. The week included singing and dancing workshops with Turkish, Cameroonian, Polish, American, Jewish, Brazilian, and Indian musicians and ended in two final performances. Professor Jean Saladino (conductor, vocalist) and Dr. Mary Ellen Haupert (composer, pianist) of Viterbo University in La Crosse, Wi, USA were the leading instructors. Sonja Larson, founder of the United International Music Community, coordinated the project through her 2015 Fulbright Grant. The first four choral pieces were composed by Dr. Mary Ellen Haupert and were premiered at the final performance: Peace in Motion.
